Different styles of drain cleaning

Traditional Snaking

This is the tried and true method of clearing drain blockages. A drum or sectional type mechanical snaking device with an auger on the tip is used to clear a blockage in the line.

Flexshaft style cleaning

utilize a swiftly rotating wire coil, much like a speedometer cable. The flexible shaft is safely protected inside a sheath so it's easy to handle – no spinning drums. Flexible-shaft technology is faster and more thorough than traditional drain cleaners. Great for roots and scaling.

Hydro Jetting

Hydro jetting is a method used to clean slow-moving drains and clogged sewage lines. Water jetting is a method used by professional plumbing contractors, employing a hydro jetting machine which uses a blast of water at very high pressure up to 4000 psi to remove hard, stubborn blockages. Hydrojetting is great for grease buildups, sludge and roots.

Frequently asked questions

  • Opening a drain and cleaning a drain serve distinct purposes in maintaining plumbing systems. Opening a drain typically refers to unclogging a blocked drain to restore proper water flow. This process involves using tools like plungers, drain snakes, or chemical drain cleaners to dislodge and remove obstructions such as hair, grease, or debris that accumulate over time. On the other hand, cleaning a drain involves a more thorough approach aimed at preventing future blockages and maintaining optimal drainage. This may include using specialized equipment like hydro-jetters or flexshafts to thoroughly clean the interior walls of pipes, removing built-up residue and mineral deposits. While opening a drain addresses immediate issues, cleaning a drain helps prevent future clogs and ensures long-term functionality of the plumbing system.
